Seminar-10 (2022-2024)
Title – Exploring Big Data to Empower User-Driven Libraries
Coordinator: Dr. Biswanath Dutta
Speaker: Aishee Roy
Abstract
In the Big Data era, libraries extend their role beyond basic information provision. They now engage users as partners who enrich library resources through their interactions and contributions. Users, in essence, play a crucial role in shaping the content and relevance of library collections. By optimizing user resources, libraries construct more dynamic and user-centric collections, thereby adapting to the evolving landscape of information services.
This seminar explores the transformative impact of Big Data in the information management landscape and highlights its significance in propelling library service. It emphasizes the dynamic nature of libraries in the digital age, where data-driven insights and user engagement redefine the essence of library science and information management. In this presentation, we illustrate that in a world transcending traditional boundaries, libraries are not mere repositories; they are interactive ecosystems that exploit the potential of Big Data to meet the diverse and ever-evolving needs of their user communities.
