Title – Ergonomics in Libraries
Abstract
Ergonomics is the scientific study of designing and arranging objects, equipment, and spaces in a way that optimizes human performance and well-being.
In the library setting, ergonomics refers to the design and arrangement of library spaces, furniture, and equipment to enhance user comfort, safety, and productivity.
This colloquium highlights the importance of ergonomics in the library setting and the benefits that it can bring to both library users and staff. The presentation will provide insights into different types of ergonomic designs and will highlight a successful case study. We have discussed the issues caused due to poor designs and the challenges in implementing modern ergonomic designs. Finally, we have tried to highlight the challenges and way forward and the importance of ergonomics in library design for the betterment of the library profession.
