Title - Exploring Entrepreneurship in Library and Information Science
Abstract
In recent years, India has witnessed significant growth in entrepreneurial culture. Individuals' perceptions of entrepreneurship are shifting, and research suggests that their willingness and capacity to take risks in ventures are more than ever.
Entrepreneurship in the Library & Information Science (LIS) domain refers to the application of entrepreneurial principles and practices to create and manage innovative and sustainable initiatives that meet the evolving needs of the LIS profession and its stakeholders. Despite holding an influential position, the visibility of the LIS profession in entrepreneurship is significantly lesser. Entrepreneurial thinking can help the library and information science professional identify new opportunities, develop creative solutions, and create value for its users and stakeholders. Entrepreneurship can help to diversify revenue streams, expand outreach, and stay relevant in an ever-changing information landscape. Therefore, the LIS profession needs to explore its presence in entrepreneurship.
This colloquium will primarily explore the prospects for entrepreneurship in Library & Information Science. The presentation will also showcase organisational success stories about LIS practices and demonstrate how entrepreneurial thinking can drive innovation, increase engagement, and create new opportunities for growth and impact in the LIS profession.
